Faridabad/Alive News: The two-day AICTE-sponsored VAANI Workshop in Hindi on “Technological Innovations in Smart Cities and Intelligent Mobility”, organized by the Department of Computer Engineering, J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, successfully concluded today.
Held under the AICTE-VAANI scheme, the workshop aimed to strengthen technical education in Indian languages. Participants were introduced to key smart city concepts, system architecture, and components. Sessions covered emerging technologies such as IoT, AI, data analytics, edge computing, and intelligent transportation systems. Topics like smart traffic management, better public transport, EV infrastructure and sustainable mobility were also discussed.
The Valedictory Session was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Shiv Kumar, Director General, ITD-India, and Guest of Honour Dr. Atul Rai, Senior General Manager, ITS India Forum. The event was also attended by Prof. Manjeet Singh (Dean, Faculty of Informatics & Computing), Prof. Ashutosh Dixit (Chairperson, Computer Engineering), and Prof. Komal Bhatia (Dean, IQAC).
Workshop Coordinator Dr. Parul Tomar presented a summary of the two-day sessions. She shared that the workshop received an excellent response, with 62 participants from five states, including faculty members, research scholars and postgraduate students. She highlighted major learnings, tools, and case studies discussed during the workshop and thanked all experts for their contribution.
Chief Guest Dr. Shiv Kumar congratulated the organizers and said that cities today face major challenges like traffic congestion, pollution, safety issues and pressure on infrastructure. He added that Smart Cities are essential for future growth, and Intelligent Mobility is central to their development. Technologies like IoT, AI and sensor networks, he said, are key to improving traffic systems, public transport and sustainable mobility.
Guest of Honour Dr. Atul Rai appreciated AICTE for supporting workshops in Indian languages under the VAANI scheme. He praised the university administration and organizing team and said that technology, good governance and active citizen participation are necessary to build better and more citizen-friendly cities.
Participants gave excellent feedback, appreciating the clear explanations, relevant topics, and the opportunity to engage in technical discussions in Hindi. The workshop ended with a Vote of Thanks by Co-coordinator Dr. Ashlesha Gupta, who thanked AICTE for sponsoring the programme.
