Lucknow/Alive News: Home Minister Amit Shah has promised to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttar Pradesh if the BJP returns to power in next year’s Assembly elections. Addressing the party’s state working committee meeting in Lucknow on Friday, Shah expressed confidence that the BJP would secure another term in the state.
“Whenever our government comes to power again, the UCC will be implemented in Uttar Pradesh. It has already been implemented in several states,” Shah said.
The meeting was held at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University and chaired by BJP state president Pankaj Chaudhary. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, state in-charge Vinod Tawde and national general secretary Smriti Irani were among those present.
Shah predicts another BJP victory
Shah asserted that the BJP would retain power in Uttar Pradesh, comparing the party’s position to Angad’s immovable foot. He also targeted Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, claiming that the SP would remain out of power in the state for the next 30 years.
Ram temple issue raised
The Home Minister also criticised the Samajwadi Party over the police firing on kar sevaks in Ayodhya on October 30, 1990. Contrasting the incident with the construction of the Ram temple under the BJP-led government, Shah questioned the SP’s claim to govern Uttar Pradesh.
He said the BJP had fulfilled its commitment to building the Ram temple, while the opposition party had ordered firing on devotees during the Ayodhya movement.
Challenges Opposition on voter list allegations
Shah also responded to allegations of electoral irregularities and vote theft raised by opposition parties. Comparing their claims to a losing team blaming the umpire, he challenged the Opposition to seek a special parliamentary session to discuss the allegations.
He said the BJP was ready to answer questions in Parliament and called for an open debate on the issue.
