Imbalance brain chemical causes depression: Dr Ashish Khandelwal

He may need a doctor, otherwise he can be a victim of any major incident. Actually, this thing, Dr Ashish Khandelwal, MD, Psychiatry, while talking to the Alive News Correspondent, Shafi Shiddiqee said that depression is an illness, which most of people still had little knowledge about it, and they used to ignore it. Dr Ashish says about 10 to15 percent people across the country are sufferer from this disease. This disease can be seen in people of all age groups, whether he is a child, young or old.


He says depression is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. Depression causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems and can decrease a person’s ability to function at work and at home.

Symptoms

Dr Ashish says that depression symptoms can vary from mild to severe and can include:

Feeling sad, anxious, or empty
Feeling hopeless or pessimistic
Feeling guilty, worthless, or helpless
Not enjoying things you used to enjoy
Trouble with concentration, memory, or making decisions
Sleeping too much or too little
Appetite changes
Gaining or losing weight
Feeling restless or irritable
Thoughts of suicide or death
Symptoms must last at least two weeks for a diagnosis of depression.

Depression caused by brain chemical imbalance

Dr Ashish says that this disease is due to brain chemical imbalance as well as some medical disorders. Depression illness patients should try to remove negative elements from their mind, do not look or think anything carefully, always be in the middle of people and should talk to them and tell family members about the disease and if still does not get rest, then consult a psychiatrist or clinical psychologist.
