New Delhi/Alive News: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has launched services on WhatsApp, allowing members to access important Provident Fund (PF) information through its verified account. Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched the facility during the 74th EPFO Foundation Day celebrations.
Members will now be able to check their PF balance, access passbook details and use five additional transaction-related services through WhatsApp. The facility is aimed at making routine EPFO services easier and reducing the need for members to visit EPFO offices.
The WhatsApp service will also provide personalised guidance and assistance for matters related to the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY).
Automatic Settlement of Inactive EPF Accounts
Mandaviya also launched a facility for the automatic settlement of inactive EPF accounts with balances of up to ₹1,000.
Under this facility, Aadhaar-verified members will not need to submit a separate claim. EPFO will verify the member’s identity and bank account details before transferring the available amount directly to the registered bank account.
According to the announcement, around one lakh inactive accounts are expected to benefit from this facility. These accounts have a combined balance of approximately ₹5 crore.
Seven Publications Released
On the occasion, seven publications were also released, focusing on knowledge sharing, institutional learning, legal awareness and administration.
Mandaviya said EPFO had emerged as a trusted institution for workers over its 74-year journey. He added that the organisation manages a fund of around ₹32 lakh crore, built through contributions from more than eight crore members.
