Faridabad/Alive News: The Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) at J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, in collaboration with IIT Delhi, marked National Technology Day 2025 which marks the historic Pokhran-II Nuclear Test and celebrates India’s strides in science and technology. The event brought together students, faculty, and industry experts to showcase innovation, foster dialogue, and inspire the next generation to contribute to an Aatm Nirbhar Bharat.
The program began with an engaging welcome address by Prof. Rajkumari, Dean (FET), who highlighted the significance of the day. “National Technology Day celebrates India’s scientific milestones, and inspires our students to innovate for a self-reliant future,” he said.
Presided over by Prof. Sushil Kumar Tomar, Vice-Chancellor, J.C. Bose University, the event featured an inspiring address that resonated with the audience. “Universities are crucibles of innovation, sparking creativity in students to build a self-reliant India. The pioneering contributions of Homi J. Bhabha, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, and Dr. R. Chidambaram in making India a nuclear power remind us of the transformative power of fundamental science,” Prof. Tomar stated, emphasizing the critical role of academia in advancing technology for national progress.
The Chief Guest, Prof. Maithili Sharan from IIT Delhi, delivered a compelling address on India’s technological journey. “With a youthful population, where the majority is under 30 years of age, India has a unique opportunity to lead global innovation, and empower young minds to drive self-reliance,” he said, inspiring students to harness their potential for nation-building.
A highlight of the event was the poster presentations and demonstrations by students and researchers led by Dr. Bahni Ray from IIT Delhi and Prof. Anju Gupta from J.C. Bose University. The exhibits showcased cutting-edge projects in sustainable technologies, renewable energy, drone applications, and solutions for environmental challenges like air and water pollution. These displays demonstrated the practical impact of innovation in addressing pressing societal issues.
The event also featured a thought-provoking panel discussion on ‘Artificial Intelligence: A Replacement or Augmentation for Human Intelligence,’ moderated by Dr. Ritabrata Thakur (IIT Delhi) and Prof. Rajkumar (J.C. Bose University). The panel, comprising Prof. Chetan Arora, Prof. Brejesh Lall, Prof. Prapanch Nair (all from IIT Delhi), and Ms. Gazal Kalra, Co-founder of Rivigo and Nuuk, explored AI’s transformative potential and its ethical implications. “AI is not a replacement but a powerful tool to augment human capabilities, aligning with India’s vision of technological self-reliance,” the panelists concurred, emphasizing AI’s role in shaping a Viksit Bharat. The participants were apprised about the latest trends in the area of AI.
The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Prof. Munish Vashishatha, Dean of Institution, who expressed gratitude to all participants, organizers, and IIT Delhi for their collaboration. “This celebration has strengthened our resolve to foster innovation and contribute to India’s journey toward global technological leadership,” he said.
The event, attended by over 250 participants, highlighted the pivotal role of academic institutions in driving innovation and reaffirmed J.C. Bose University’s commitment to nurturing talent for a self-reliant India by 2047.
