Panchkula/Alive News: A six-year-old girl studying in KG at a government school in Panchkula was allegedly assaulted by a fellow student. A psychiatric assessment has reportedly found signs of two behavioural disorders in the boy, with mobile gaming addiction and lack of parental attention emerging as possible contributing factors.
Experts from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, conducted the boy’s mental assessment on Monday. According to sources, the evaluation indicated signs of childhood-onset conduct disorder and intermittent explosive disorder.
The boy has been staying at an observation home in Ambala since October 31. The assessment report has been submitted to the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), which will decide the next course of action.
Assessment indicates signs of two disorders
Childhood-onset conduct disorder may involve aggression, theft, deceit, violation of rules and destruction of property. Children with this condition may also show little remorse for their actions.
Intermittent explosive disorder is associated with sudden and intense anger outbursts, which may involve physical aggression, abusive language or damage to property. Medication may be prescribed in some cases.
Sources said the boy underwent an IQ test, while experts also examined his behaviour, family background, medical and developmental history, including details of his mother’s pregnancy.
Counselling reportedly indicated that the child may not have received adequate parental attention. His reported addiction to mobile games is also being examined as a possible factor behind his behavioural changes.
Precautions have reportedly been taken at the observation home to prevent him from harming himself or others. Potentially dangerous objects have been removed from his room.
