FMS Sector-31 organized CBSE- Capacity Building Programmes

Faridabad/Alive News: CBSE- Capacity Building Programme for activity-based teaching of mathematics organized at Faridabad Model School. The workshops highlighted the nature of the two subjects and equipped educators to deal with the challenges of the modern educational environment embracing changes brought by NEP 2020.

The resource person for Joyful Mathematics was Dr. Nidhi Sirohi-Principal GD Goenka, Noida and Mr. Rahul Sofat- HOD Mathematics, Airforce Golden Jubilee Institute, New Delhi. Dr. Sonakshi Sharma – Master Trainer in School Health & Wellness with UNESCO, NCERT and CBSE, and Mr. Yogender Chauhan- HOD English, Rawal Bal Shiksha Kendra, and Faridabad were the resource persons for English Language & Literature.

The workshops were attended by the subject teachers of FMS and various other schools from Faridabad, Palwal, Sonipat, Hodal, Bahadurgarh, and Gurugram. The program started with an auspicious lighting of the lamp and a formal welcome of the resource persons.

The resource people elaborated on the various dimensions of study like the creation of an environment conducive to learning and how student-directed learning makes the classroom less of an ‘institution’ and more of a ‘community’, encouraging mutual support. The importance of teaching aids and the role of assessment in the effectiveness of a lesson were discussed.

Teachers were made to understand how teaching aids provide the learners with different intelligences to enjoy learning as well as develop their potential and thinking skills. The importance of competency based education to help students develop and demonstrate mastery over their knowledge and skills was emphasized. The session highlighted different competencies like reasoning and argument, representation, communication, and strategic thinking.

Teachers from various schools participated in a host of activities and gained insight regarding the skills, abilities, and attitude that students are expected to attain by the end of a learning experience or program of study. The workshop aimed at making the process of learning more interesting and effective by devising methods to engage students in meaningful activities and empower teachers with appropriate pedagogy and educational tools to achieve the same.

The session continued with the presentation on developing ideas to motivate students through joyful activities, such as discovering, exploring, constructing, designing and solving problems that were wrapped in form of games, puzzles and hands-on activities.

The session concluded with felicitation of the resource people by the Venue Director and Director Principal, FMS, Mr. Umang Malik. He expressed his gratitude towards the trainers for providing a powerful and engaging learning experience through various activities and thanked the attendees for their active participation during the session.
