D.A.V. school Organized workshop on promoting inclusivity

Faridabad/Alive News : UNICEF believes in the inclusionand equal rights of children with special needs. D.A.V. Public School, Sector-37, Faridabad under the guidance of its empathetic Principal, Ms. Deepti Jagota also promotes the principles of inclusion, a rights-based approach and supportive environment toeach student. The goal is to ensure that children with disabilities receive special care, support, and services to fully participate and be included in society.

The Principal of the school feels that every child brings something special to the world. So under her guidance a workshop on the topic “Fostering inclusivity in school” was held on June 26, 2023 in the school premises. Special Educator of the school, Ms. Sunena Dewan conducted the workshop along with very special and enthusiastic guest speakers Ms. Rashel Dahiya and Ms. Mudita Jagota, Ms. Rashel Dahiya is Masters in Applied psychology and Special Education and Ms. Mudita Jagota is Certified Rehabilitation Counselor from U.S.A.

The workshop was aimed to promote inclusive practices and equip teachers with the latest tools and skills to create more sensitized inclusive learning environment. The workshop covered topics such as understanding inclusive education principles, identifying learning needs, creating inclusive classrooms, developing individualized education plans, using inclusive teaching strategies, and building inclusive communities. It resulted in increased awareness and understanding among teachers, enhanced teaching practices, improved collaboration, and a positive learning environment for students with special needs. Overall, the workshop was a significant step towards fostering inclusivity within the school community.

To avoid academic absenteeism and discrimination, inclusive education is the need of the time. Ms. Mudita Jagota emphasised on catering to individual learning styles. According to her every child has unique characteristics, interests, abilities and learning needs. The workshop indeed was very interesting and fruitful.
