Blinkit to Charge ₹2,500 for Non-Emergency Ambulance Trips, Emergency Services to Remain Free

New Delhi/Alive News: Blinkit will charge ₹2,500 for non-emergency ambulance services, while emergency transfers will continue to remain free. Eternal Vice Chairman and Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal announced the decision on Thursday, November 5, 2026.

Goyal said the company had noticed an increase in bookings for routine medical check-ups, hospital visits and transfers from hospitals to homes. These trips do not usually require fully equipped emergency ambulances and can often be handled through private transport or regular ambulance services.

Emergency Ambulance Services to Remain Free

In a social media post, Goyal said Blinkit had handled around 42,000 ambulance cases over the past two years, including approximately 20,000 emergency cases. He added that the company had not charged customers for any of these services and intended to continue providing emergency transfers free of cost.

Under the new policy, customers will be charged ₹2,500 after completing a non-emergency trip. According to Goyal, the fee is broadly in line with charges for private ambulance services.

The money collected from these trips will go to the Eternal Foundation, which operates the ambulance service and will use the funds to expand its operations.

Blinkit Started 10-Minute Ambulance Service in 2024

Blinkit introduced its 10-minute ambulance service two years ago to provide quick medical assistance. The ambulances are equipped with oxygen cylinders, automated external defibrillators (AEDs), stretchers, patient monitors, suction machines and emergency medicines.

Each ambulance is staffed with a paramedic, an assistant and a trained driver.

Goyal said the new charge aims to reduce non-emergency bookings and keep ambulances available for patients who need urgent medical attention.
