Sports/Alive News: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have completed a four-player trade ahead of the IPL 2027 season. England all-rounder Liam Livingstone and Australian player Jack Edwards have joined Chennai, while left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed and Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis have moved to Hyderabad.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the player exchanges on Thursday. Livingstone has joined CSK for ₹6 crore, while Edwards has been traded for ₹3 crore. Khaleel Ahmed will join SRH for ₹4.8 crore, and Nathan Ellis has moved for ₹2 crore.
The IPL 2027 player retention deadline has been extended by two days to November 17.
Livingstone Takes a 53.85% Pay Cut
Livingstone was previously signed by SRH for ₹13 crore but will now represent Chennai for ₹6 crore, taking a 53.85% reduction in his salary.
The England all-rounder has played 51 IPL matches, scoring 1,066 runs and taking 13 wickets. He can contribute with both bat and ball, offering off-spin and leg-spin options.
He had a disappointing IPL 2026 season, scoring just 15 runs in two appearances for Hyderabad.
Australian all-rounder Jack Edwards has also joined CSK for ₹3 crore. He was signed by SRH before making his international debut but missed the 2026 season due to a leg injury.
Khaleel Ahmed Returns to Hyderabad
Left-arm fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed has joined SRH for ₹4.8 crore. He took 15 wickets in 14 matches for Chennai during IPL 2025. However, an injury to his right thigh restricted him to just five appearances in the 2026 season.
Australian pacer Nathan Ellis has also joined Hyderabad for ₹2 crore. Known for his bowling variations and performances in the death overs, he is expected to strengthen SRH’s pace attack.
Other Player Trades Ahead of IPL 2027
Several other player exchanges have taken place ahead of the retention deadline. Rishabh Pant has moved from Lucknow Super Giants to Delhi Capitals, with Kuldeep Yadav heading to Lucknow.
Delhi Capitals have also signed Zeeshan Ansari from SRH, while fast bowler T. Natarajan has returned to Hyderabad.
