Masterclass on rural journalism held at J.C. Bose University

Faridabad/Alive News: The Department of Communication and Media Technology at J.C. Bose University YMCA Faridabad organized a special masterclass featuring eminent media academician and researcher, Prof. PK Jena. The session provided valuable insights into Prof. Jena’s unique experiments and experiences, focusing on the role of journalism in rural development and communication.

The event, held at the Media Studio in the CV Raman Block, was attended by faculty members and students of the journalism department. Prof. Pawan Singh, Chairman of the Department, honored Prof. Jena by presenting him with a memento and a shawl in recognition of his contributions to media studies.

During the session, Prof. Jena delved into emerging media trends, research methodologies, and the impact of technology on journalism and broadcasting. He emphasized the importance of critical thinking, innovation, and creativity in media education. Sharing insights from his personal experiences, Prof. Jena illustrated the power of storytelling in journalism, especially in rural environments, where communication can bring about meaningful change.

One of the highlights of the session was Prof. Jena’s discussion on his groundbreaking experiment using a WhatsApp group to address the basic issues faced by rural communities, particularly in farming and livestock management. This initiative, which combined entertainment with information dissemination, offered a novel direction for journalism aimed at solving rural problems.

Prof. Jena also engaged the audience with thought-provoking questions during the curiosity session, sparking in-depth discussions on media research and innovations. Students and faculty members from various programs, including BAJMC, MAJMC, BSW, MSW, and BSc Visual Communication and Media Technology, participated enthusiastically.

The session was coordinated by Dr. Rahul Arya, with contributions from Assistant Professors Dr. Taruna Narula, Dr. Sonia Hooda, Dr. Akhilesh Tripathi, and Dr. K.M. Tabish. The event was successfully concluded with a vote of thanks by the faculty members, and the stage was conducted by Aastha Tiwari.

This masterclass not only provided valuable knowledge but also inspired the next generation of media professionals to embrace innovation and creativity in their approach to journalism.
