- Youth to play leading role in Science, Innovation, and Technology for Viksit Bharat: VC Prof. S.K. Tomar
Faridabad/Alive News: J. C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, today celebrated National Science Day with great enthusiasm. The event aimed to empower the youth with leadership qualities in Science, Innovation, and Technology for Viksit Bharat.
Prof. Rajendra Kumar Sharma, Professor and Former Head, Department of Mathematics, IIT Delhi was chief guest of the event while Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sushil Kumar Tomar presided over the programme. Prof. Neera Raghav, Professor, Department of Chemistry, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, and Dr. Sudhir Kumar Sharma, Principal Scientist, CSIR-National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi, were invited speaker during the programme.
The event commenced with a briefing about the celebration by event Convener Prof. Neetu Gupta, Dean of Sciences, followed by presidential address by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tomar who delivered an inspiring address and highlighted the life journey and research achievements of Sir C.V. Raman. He also spoke about other eminent Indian scientists such as Mahendralal Sarkar and Ramakrishnan. He emphasized the importance of cultivating ideas and innovation, and motivated the young minds to contribute towards the development of Viksit Bharat.
The Chief Guest, Prof. Rajendra Kumar Sharma enthralled the audience with his detailed account of the story of Carl Friedrich Gauss and the use of Homing Pigeons in Military during World War-I. He also provided a brief history of the Nobel Prize, which added to the knowledge and interest of the attendees.
In their invited talk, Prof. Neera Raghav spoke on ‘Indigenous Wisdom with Modern Concepts’ and Dr. Sudhir Kumar Sharma addressed the audience on ‘Source Apportionment of Aerosols over Indian Region: A Simple to Complex Approach’. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by event co-convener Dr. Renuka Gupta, Chairperson of the Department of Environmental Sciences. The event is also Co-convened by Prof. Sonia Bansal, Chairperson, Department of Physics and Dr. Ravi Kumar, Chairperson, Department of Chemistry.
