YMCA University to spend Rs. 7 Crore to set up Central Research Facilities

Faridabad/ Alive News/ 20 feb 2018: With a view to provide advanced research facilities, YMCA University of Science and Technology, Faridabad has decided to develop state-of-the-art research facilities amounting to Rs7 Crore to boost multidisciplinary research in the field of Engineering and Sciences.

This was disclosed by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar in a meeting to discuss the future plans of the University to promote Research and Development. He said that initiating new research projects is one of the top priorities of the University for which Central Research Facilities (CRF) needs to be developed with modern advanced analytical instruments. These facilities would not only improve the quality of research work but also encourage the researcher to carry out new innovations in the field of science and technology.


The CRF would cater to advanced engineering and science research activities such as nanotechnology and would be equipped with hi-tech equipments including Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), X-ray Diffraction System (XRD), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and Microhardness Tester. These equipments would be helpful in research work for material characterization, advanced materials research and analysis, he added.
He said the University has signed various MoUs with different research institutions to facilitate the Research Scholars. Taking concerted measures in this direction, and to save the valuable time of researchers to get the access of these instruments, the University has decided to provide in house advanced research facilities.
Vice-Chancellor said that YMCA University, upgraded to the level of University in year 2009, has achieved various milestones in the last couple of years. The University was granted ‘A’ Grade accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of University Grant Commission (UGC) in November, 2016 and selected under the TEQIP-III project of MHRD, GoI. Recently, five programmes of the University have been received accreditation by the NBA which reflects the quality of Technical Education being imparted by the University. The expansion of facilities would further boost the research and innovations and improve the quality of research work.
