Faridabad/Alive News: A two-day national workshop on “Technological Innovations in Smart Cities and Intelligent Mobility” started today at J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad. The workshop is sponsored by AICTE–VAANI and organized by the Department of Computer Engineering. Its aim is to promote technical education in Indian languages and provide insights into the fast-growing fields of smart cities and digital mobility.
The inauguration began with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. Dr. Ashutosh Dixit, Chairperson of the Computer Engineering Department, welcomed all guests and participants. He explained that the VAANI scheme encourages teaching advanced technology in Indian languages, especially Hindi, so that students can easily understand complex topics. He highlighted the importance of AI, IoT, data analytics, and communication technologies in building sustainable smart cities and improving urban mobility.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajive Singh, in his message, said that workshops like this help people understand new technologies better and also encourage the use of Hindi in technical discussions. He added that the dream of Smart Cities can be achieved only when people think, innovate, and create solutions in their own language. He congratulated the department for supporting the multilingual goals of the National Education Policy.
Dean Academics, Prof. Atul Mishra, emphasized that smart city development requires knowledge from different fields. He said that technology alone cannot solve urban issues. Policies based on data are needed to manage traffic, provide parking solutions, support non-motorized transport, and reduce pollution.
Dean (FIC), Prof. Manjeet Singh, praised the department for its efforts in promoting academic excellence. He said that while the workshop focuses on new technologies, the use of Hindi as a medium of learning is equally important. According to him, Hindi is a logical and structured language that supports analytical thinking and helps explain complex ideas clearly.
During the two-day workshop, participants will attend expert lectures, hands-on demonstrations, interactive sessions, and discussions on smart city technologies and intelligent mobility. Faculty members, research scholars, industry experts, and many students took part in the event with great enthusiasm.
The inaugural session ended with a vote of thanks by Workshop Coordinator Dr. Parul Tomar. She thanked all dignitaries, AICTE–VAANI, speakers, organizers, and participants. She encouraged everyone to actively participate, ask questions, and make the most of the workshop. She also shared that the schedule has been prepared to provide a balanced mix of theory, practical sessions, and open discussions.
