State employees want 30% more salary than central employee

Chandigarh/ Alive News: State government employees want 30 per cent more salary than their counterparts in the Centre, pay panel report after every five years, revival of the old pension scheme in place of the national pension scheme (NPS) and several other benefits with the implementation of the 7th pay panel report.

Representatives of the Sarv Karamchari Sangh (SKS) today met the panel headed by Chief Secretary DS Dhesi constituted by the government to implement the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission and submitted their suggestions.
“Haryana has 1.79 more per capita income than the national average and 1.46 times higher than Punjab. So we want our salaries to be 30 per cent higher than that of our counterparts in the Centre and in no case lesser than what the Punjab Government gives to its employees. Since the Centre has already proposed 2.57 as multiplication factor on basic pay plus the DA, the factor should not be le lesser than 3.35 in Haryana,” said Dharambir Phogat, state president of the sangh.
Subhash Lamba, general secretary of the sangh, said they had told the panel they wanted the pay commission report to be implemented in time and with effect from January 1, 2016, and also want it to be implemented together in all government and semi-government departments, boards and corporations, universities, self-governing bodies and pensioners.
The SKS has also demanded the minimum salary of the lowest paid employees be fixed at Rs24,000 per month, regularisation of contractual and ad hoc employees, the highest and the lowest salary ratio of 7:1, maternity leave to women employees for third child also and several other facilities for them.
“The panel has assured us that our demands will be placed before the Chief Minister and the state government and will be considered before implementing the report,” said Phogat.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Captain Abhimanyu told that the state government would implement the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission very soon.
“Haryana is the first state in the country to have taken initiative to implement the pay commission report. The panel set up by the government has so far received 176 representations. It will submit its report by October 20,” Abhimanyu said.
