Robber glues woman’s hands with Fevikwik, steals ₹4.5 lakh mangalsutra: hostage at knifepoint in Bengaluru; accused arrested

National/Alive News: A 23-year-old woman was held hostage at knifepoint during a daylight robbery at a shoe and bag repair shop in Bengaluru’s Indiranagar area. The accused allegedly glued her hands together with Fevikwik before stealing her mangalsutra worth approximately ₹4.5 lakh.

The incident took place on October 31 at a shop on 100 Feet Road. The woman, who works as a receptionist and handles daily transactions, was alone at the shop when the accused entered around 11.45 am wearing a helmet and gloves.

Glued her hands and stuffed cloth into her mouth

According to the police, the accused jumped over the reception counter and threatened the woman with a knife. He covered her mouth, applied Fevikwik to both her hands and stuck them together. He also stuffed a piece of cloth into her mouth before snatching her 35-gram mangalsutra.

When the woman managed to free her hands and raised an alarm, local residents gathered outside the shop. The accused allegedly dragged her back inside by her hair and held a knife to her throat, threatening those who tried to intervene.

Attacked shop owner while escaping

The shop owner and other locals attempted to catch the robber, but he allegedly attacked the owner with a knife and escaped with the jewellery. A video of the incident has also circulated on social media.

Police later apprehended the accused with the help of local residents. He has been sent to judicial custody.

An FIR has been registered at Indiranagar Police Station under Section 309(6) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police are also investigating the accused’s criminal background.
