Prophet Muhammad’s birthday celebrated with great pomp

Faridabad: The Muslim community’s people of Faridabad city took out a procession in memory of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) here today. The community tried to reach another communities people of the Prophet’s Precepts while taking out their procession. One side where the children were messaging to the passerby through the religious songs (Nazam), while another side elderly of the community witnessed introducing their simplicity in a row on the city’s roads. However, the procession with their preparation reached to the destination without any untoward incident. On this occasion interacting to the media some people of the community shared to Prophet’s preaches.
The 12th of Rabi-ul-Awal is the third month in the Islamic calendar. During this month, majority of the Muslims celebrate Mawlid – the birthday of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Sunni Muslims believe the exact date of birth of Muhammad to have been on the twelfth of this month, whereas Shi’a Muslims believe him to have been born on the dawn of the seventeenth day. The name Rabī‘al-awwal means the first [month] or beginning of spring, referring to its position in the pre-Islamic Arabian calendar. Hence this is considered to be a very blessed month.

In some areas celebrations begin as early as the first of the month and can continue till the end of the month. Muslims generally put coloured lights on roads, streets, and their homes and put green flags as well to celebrate. In many countries a procession is also conducted on 12th of Rabi’ al-awwal night and day. On these occasions sweets are also distributed widely from home to home and to the general public. In some areas Muslims also exchange gifts. It is the month of blessings.

The sacred day of 12th of Rabi-ul-Awal is especially important to the Muslim world, because on this day Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was born, who led humanity from darkness to light and who is described by Allah as “a mercy to all the worlds – Rehmat-ullil-Alimeen”. Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi is celebrated by the Muslims in East and West on 12th Rabi-ul-Awal with great devotion and reverence. The occasion like 12th Rabi-ul-Awal is meant to remind people of how the Prophet lived his life and to rejuvenate their Eiman.

Nowadays, the celebrations of such religious occasion like 12th Rabi-ul-Awal is extremely important to instill values, ethics and moral code in youth, practiced by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The occasion of 12th Rabi-ul-Awal serves a great purpose in that it brings the people closer to the teachings of Islam and to the Holy Prophet’s way of life. The sacred month of Rabi-ul-Awal causes the Muslims to remember the blessings of Holy Prophet and to fill their hearts with the love of the Prophet Peace and blessings be upon him. It is the duty of every Muslim parent to tell the stories of Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to their children on 12th Rabi-ul-Awal that shed light on different aspects of his life.
