Maths week celebrated at G.D. Goenka Public School Faridabad

Faridabad: Understanding mathematics is important for all the students irrespective of the stream they are following. While for Science students it is important to study mathematics to indulge themselves in the calculations required in the different fields of engineering, the importance of mathematics no less important for the students of commerce looking forward to pursue career as a Chartered Accountant or a Company Secretary.
In order to make the students attracted towards the subject different activities are being undertaken at G.D. Goenka Public School, Faridabad. In this reference, the school celebrated Maths Week starting from 7th December that continued till 10th December 2015.
The young Goenkan Mathematicians kept the spirit alive with the numerous fun activities. The classrooms and the corridors of both Primary and Senior wings were filled with Mathematical fun. Students of class III – X performed simple yet interesting activities.
The students participated with full enthusiasm. The students deciphered the logics and the concepts behind it. “Spin the wheel” and “Math Train” activities were conducted in class-III, “Math Art” and “Ring the G.C.F” activities were conducted in class- IV and “Fun Way Road Show” and “Be the detective” were conducted in class – V. From the above-mentioned activities, the students learned how to analyze the situation on mass level in a managed way and helped them to improve their mathematical intelligence as well as creative skills.
“Algebraic Expression and Linear Equation” was conducted for classes VI, VII and VIII. Math Quiz competition was conducted for the classes IX and X. There were four teams. All the four teams participated with competitive spirit. Out of four teams, the team from 10th A stood first in which Lakshay Sharma, Akshay, Barkha and Yukta Goyal were the participants. The hard work and perseverance of Goenkans was highly appreciated by the faculty members. The innate potential of the students was nurtured through the excellent success of the Math week.
On the occasion of closing of the event, the Principal Dr. Shreesh Bhardwaj appreciated all the participants and encouraged them to take part in all sort of activities conducted in the days to come.
