JC Bose University’s Incubation Centre secures Rs 1.30 Cr grant for Women-Led Ideas

Faridabad/Alive News : The Technology Business Incubation Centre at J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, has achieved a significant milestone by securing a substantial grant of Rs 1.3 Cr through the MSME Innovation Scheme of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India. Notably, two innovative women-led business research proposals submitted by the Incubation Centre have been approved under the prestigious MSME Idea Hackathon 3.0 for Women Innovators.

Dr. Sanjeev Goel and Dr. Sapna Taneja, the Incharge and Coordinator of the IPR, Innovation, Incubation, and Start-Up (IIIS) Division within the R&D Cell of the University, proudly presented the proposal approval to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sushil Kumar Tomar, marking a momentous achievement for the University’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sushil Kumar Tomar extended his heartfelt congratulations to the successful Women Innovators for their innovative ideas and commended the Incubation Centre for securing the substantial grant. He expressed confidence that this financial support would significantly enhance innovation activities within the University, inspiring students to consider entrepreneurship as a viable career path.

Dr. Sanjeev Goel, leading the IPR, Innovation, Incubation, and Start-Up Division, highlighted the process behind the selection of ideas under the MSME Idea Hackathon 3.0 for Women Innovators. The IIIS Division of the University invited submissions from women students and women-owned MSMEs, receiving 36 proposals, of which 15 were shortlisted and forwarded to the Ministry of MSME for consideration.

The idea proposals were approved in the 7th meeting of Project Monitoring and Advisory Committee (PMAC) of MSME Innovative Scheme. Out of the 397 approved ideas from prestigious institutions nationwide, only four were selected from Haryana, with two originating from J.C. University, showcasing the institution’s prowess in the innovation landscape.

Under this scheme, the Incubation Centre has secured financial assistance of Rs 15 lakh per idea for the development and nurturing of the approved proposals by Women Innovators. Also, the Centre will receive Rs 1 Cr for the procurement and installation of essential plant and machinery in the Business Incubator, facilitating R&D activities and providing common facilities for incubatees, further cementing the University’s position as a hub for entrepreneurial growth and innovation.
