JC Bose University organized a thought-provoking workshop on Indian Knowledge System

Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, under the joint aegis of Vigyan Bharati Haryana today conducted a thought-provoking one-day workshop on ‘Indian Knowledge System – A Roadmap Ahead’. Distinguished speakers, including Prof. Brij Kishore Kuthiala, former Chairman of Haryana State Higher Education Council, Vice Chancellor of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, Shri Raj Nehru, and Professor Sanjeev Sharma from Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, shared profound insights on the future framework of the Indian Knowledge System.

The session was chaired by the University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sushil Kumar Tomar. The workshop commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the distinguished speakers. Vice Chancellor Prof. Sushil Kumar Tomar welcomed the invited guests and the participants. In his address, Prof. Tomar delved into the roots of Indian knowledge encapsulated in the Vedas, emphasizing the need to integrate this rich tradition into modern education systems. He underscored the inclusivity and accessibility prioritized by the Indian knowledge system, ensuring quality education transcends socio-economic barriers, empowering students from diverse backgrounds. Shri Raj Nehru highlighted the traditional roots of Indian knowledge in Dharma and Karma, connecting education with nature and environmental conservation.

Referring the significance of traditional Indian games like Chaturanga and Moksha Patam, he underscored their role in nurturing cultural values and critical thinking skills. He contrasted Western ideology, focusing on internal comfort, with India’s emphasis on internal comfort and highlighted the enduring nature of the Indian knowledge system despite challenges. Prof. Sanjeev Sharma expounded on the philosophical underpinnings of Indian knowledge traditions, emphasizing the importance of questioning and curiosity in the pursuit of excellence. He emphasized the inclusivity and universal welfare ethos of Indian education, contrasting it with the more compartmentalized approach of modern education systems.

Prof. Brij Kishore Kuthiala accentuated the importance of merging ancient wisdom with contemporary knowledge, advocating for a revival of India’s rich heritage. He urged enthusiastic engagement with India’s rich heritage of knowledge, noting the growing interest even in international academic circles.
Program coordinator Dr. Bindu Mangala extended gratitude to the speakers, with Dean of Student Welfare Prof. Manish Vashishtha and chairperson of the Department of Communication and Media Technology Dr. Pawan Singh, deans and chairpersons of various teaching departments were present at the event.
