Faridabad/Alive News : The Department of Communication and Media Technology at J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA,Faridabad organized a one-day workshop titled “Solutions Journalism in the Contemporary News Industry.” The session, held at the university’s Media Studio, featured renowned media expert and Consulting Editor of ‘News Sense’, Ms. Priya Kapoor, as the keynote speaker. CMT Chairperson, Prof. Pawan Singh, welcomed the expert by presenting a sapling.
Addressing the gathering, Ms. Priya Kapoor emphasized that in the current era, journalism should not be limited to merely highlighting problems. She stressed that Solutions Journalism is evidence-based and response-driven reporting. “It does not just tell society what is going wrong, but also demonstrates how those problems can be effectively resolved,” she stated.
Sharing her vast experience with prestigious organizations like India Today and Times Internet, she used projector presentations to teach students the nuances of ‘response-oriented’ reporting.
In his presidential address, CMT Chairperson Prof. Pawan Singh remarked that in the digital age, the credibility of news and its social impact are of paramount importance. He noted that providing solutions to social issues is a moral duty of the press. He encouraged media students to stay prepared for future challenges while maintaining their responsibility toward society through constructive journalism.
The workshop coordinator, Assistant Professor Dr. Rahul Arya, expressed his gratitude to the expert, the HoD, and the university administration. He remarked that the insights gained from an experienced mentor like Ms. Priya Kapoor would prove to be a milestone for the students’ professional journeys.
