J.C. Bose University to Host Two-Day National Conference on Media, Society and Public Discourse in the Digital Age

Faridabad/Alive News: The Department of Communication and Media Technology at J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, Faridabad will organize a two-day National Conference on the theme “Media, Society and Public Discourse in the Digital Age” on 17 and 18 March 2026. The conference aims to discuss the growing influence of digital media and its impact on society and public communication.

The inaugural session will be attended by Raghavendra P. Tiwari, Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, and senior journalist Alok Mehta as distinguished guests. The session will be presided over by Rajive Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology.

The conference will bring together Vice-Chancellors from 15 universities, policymakers, academicians and senior media experts from across the country. Around 200 participants, including researchers, faculty members and students, are expected to take part in the event.

Speaking about the conference, Vice-Chancellor Rajive Kumar said that the event will help in understanding the changing role of media in the digital age and will encourage discussions on building an ethical digital environment.

Pawan Singh, Chairperson of the Department of Communication and Media Technology, said that digital media is influencing almost every aspect of modern life. He added that the conference will provide a valuable platform for scholars and experts to discuss key issues such as misinformation, ethical use of artificial intelligence and changes in public discourse.

During the conference, more than 100 research papers will be presented by media students, faculty members and research scholars. The event will include seven technical sessions and five discussion sessions focusing on topics such as media and social justice, the role of technology and AI in public communication, ethics and responsibility in digital media, media literacy, and the role of media in politics and governance.

A special Industry-Academia Dialogue will also be organized to encourage interaction between media professionals and academic experts.

Apart from academic discussions, the conference will also feature a grand cultural evening. The programme will include a musical yoga presentation by the Niramayam Club, a Bhangra group dance by the Natraj Club and a Kavi Sammelan.

The organizing team includes co-coordinators Rahul Arya, Sonia Hooda and Akhilesh Tripathi. According to the organizers, preparations for this major academic event are in the final stage.
