Faridabad/Alive News: J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, celebrated its 57th Foundation Day with immense enthusiasm, honoring the remarkable achievements of its students, faculty, and alumni. Established in 1969 as the YMCA Institute of Engineering, an Indo-German diploma institute, it attained University status in 2009, marking 56 years as an institution and 16 years as a University.
The event was graced by distinguished alumnus Prof. Rakesh Kumar Mudgal, Vice-Chancellor of Atmiya University, Rajkot, and Sardar Sukhdev Singh, President of the YMCA MOB Alumni Association, with Prof. Rajive Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of J.C. Bose University, presiding. The ceremony recognized outstanding contributions with 17 Research Awards; three Star Alumni Awards; two Innovation Awards; six awards for excellence in Community Service, Sports, and Cultural/Technical Activities; and Best Club Awards in Technical and Cultural Categories. The Club Coordinators were also felicitated for their contribution.
The day began with a ceremonial garlanding of Acharya J.C. Bose’s bust, followed by a tree plantation drive. At Shakuntalam Hall, student clubs showcased innovative projects, and a documentary highlighted the University’s milestones and advanced facilities.
Prof. Rakesh Kumar Mudgal, Vice-Chancellor, Atmiya University, Rajkot, emphasized that learning is the soul of an academic institution, with infrastructure as its body. He praised the university’s historical role in Faridabad’s industrial growth and urged a revival of its legacy to align with India’s premier institutions.
Sardar Sukhdev Singh, President of YMCA MOB, reflected on the institute’s journey in Faridabad’s industrial hub. He highlighted the contributions of its over 10 thousand alumni, many holding leadership roles in manufacturing, and outlined MOB YMCA’s support for initiatives like the J.C. Bose Technology Business Incubator, Jubilee Gate, scholarships, and placements. He encouraged students to respect their teachers, focus on studies, and assured financial support for those facing fee challenges.
Prof. Rajive Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, delivered an inspiring address, acknowledging MOB YMCA’s pivotal role in the University’s growth. He underscored YMCA’s pioneering status as Faridabad’s first technical institute, with alumni shaping India’s manufacturing sector. To address modern challenges, he advocated for enhanced hands-on training through upgraded workshops, industry-aligned projects, and internships with local industrial giants. Prof. Kumar proposed a boys’ hostel named after a distinguished alumnus and plans to connect with MOB YMCA’s foreign chapter for global collaboration. He also shared ambitions to achieve NAAC A++ accreditation and secure central grants to bolster research and infrastructure.
The event featured vibrant cultural performances by student clubs, which were warmly received. Organized by the Office of the Dean of Student Welfare, the program concluded with an Appreciation Awards Ceremony honoring faculty, alumni, and students, followed by a heartfelt vote of thanks by Registrar Prof. Ajay Ranga and the National Anthem.
