Faridabad/Alive News : JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, today organized a momentous program to commemorate International Women in Engineering Day. The program, organized by the university, witnessed the active participation of esteemed faculty members and students from various engineering disciplines.
The event was graced by the presence of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sushil Kumar Tomar, who chaired the program and delivered an inspiring address. Prof. Tomar extended his heartfelt congratulations to the faculty and students on the occasion of International Women in Engineering Day. He emphasized the global significance of this day, which serves as a tribute to the immense contributions and accomplishments of women in the field of engineering.
In his address, Prof. Tomar shared remarkable facts about prominent Indian women who have made remarkable strides in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). He highlighted the need to bridge the gender gap in these disciplines and stressed the importance of providing equitable opportunities to women. Prof. Tomar called for collaborative efforts from industry, academia, and individuals to address gender inequality and promote gender diversity in STEM.
Prof. Tomar also highlighted the measures taken by the university to promote women in science and engineering. He mentioned the launch of the ‘J.C. Bose Journal on Science and Technology,’ a research journal managed by the university’s female faculty members. Prof. Tomar underscored the pivotal role women play in shaping the scientific and technological communities and urged for their increased involvement and representation.
Highlighting the university’s commitment to gender equality, Prof. Tomar proudly shared that out of the university’s 15 teaching departments, nine are currently led by accomplished female faculty members. This achievement stands as a testament to the university’s efforts in empowering women in decision-making roles within the institution.
