Faridabad/Alive News : JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, has taken a significant step towards educational reforms by introducing the Minor Degree Program in alignment with the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP-2020). The Haryana Higher Education Minister, Shri Moolchand Sharma, and Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education, Shri Anand Mohan Sharan, officially released the Information Booklet on Minor Degree, symbolizing the university’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation.
The event witnessed the presence of senior functionaries, including Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sushil Kumar Tomar, Registrar Dr. Sunil Kumar Garg, Dean (Institutions), Dean (Academic Affairs) Prof. Ashutosh Dixit, deans, and chairpersons of the University. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tomar briefed the Minister about the university’s new initiative, stating that the Minor Degree Program encompasses 22 emerging areas of study. This program has been designed to provide students with flexibility and choice by allowing them to select from a diverse range of elective courses that complement their major field of study.
Dean (Academic Affairs) Prof. Ashutosh Dixit said that the Information Booklet serves as a comprehensive guide for students, offering insights into the program’s structure, available courses, and the exciting opportunities that a minor degree holds. With this initiative, the JC Bose University of Science and Technology aims to empower students and equip them with multidisciplinary skills, enabling them to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.
Expressing his appreciation for the University’s efforts in line with NEP-2020, the Higher Education Minister congratulated the institution for its proactive approach towards educational reforms. He reiterated the State Government’s commitment to implementing NEP-2020 across Haryana by the year 2025. The Minister also commended the University’s commitment to staying at the forefront of educational advancements and promoting academic excellence.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Anand Mohan Sharan emphasized the State’s determination to achieve the objectives of NEP-2020 even before the targeted timeline of 2030 set by the Central Government. He disclosed that Haryana will strive to achieve 70 percent implementation of NEP-2020 starting from the academic session of 2024, showcasing the state’s proactive stance towards educational reforms and its dedication to providing quality education to its students.
