National/Alive News: IndiGo has extended the suspension of its flights to and from Saudi Arabia amid the evolving security situation. The airline announced that services to and from Riyadh would remain cancelled until October 31, 2026, while flights connecting India with Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah would remain suspended until October 27.
In a statement, IndiGo said the decision followed a careful assessment of the prevailing security situation. The airline said the suspensions would remain in effect through the respective dates.
The extension comes as other Indian carriers have also temporarily suspended services to Saudi Arabia.
Air India and Akasa Air Also Suspend Flights
Tata Group-owned Air India and Air India Express had earlier extended the suspension of flights to and from Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah until October 24, 2026, citing the evolving situation in the region.
Meanwhile, Akasa Air suspended its flights to and from Riyadh and Jeddah through October 27, 2026.
The revised schedules mean passengers travelling between India and Saudi Arabia may need to adjust their travel plans depending on their airline, destination and departure date.
Flight Cancellations Affect Indian Travellers and Pilgrims
The cancellations are expected to affect Indian expatriates, business travellers and religious pilgrims travelling between the two countries.
Jeddah and Madinah serve as important gateways for Umrah pilgrims, while Riyadh and Dammam are major destinations for Indian workers and business travellers.
Passengers are advised to check their flight status directly with their respective airlines before leaving for the airport, as cancellation dates vary by carrier and destination.
Full Refunds Available for Affected Passengers
Affected passengers can check the refund and rebooking options offered by their airlines. Under the arrangements described in the announcement, passengers with confirmed bookings on cancelled flights may be eligible for:
- Full refund: A refund of the ticket amount, subject to the airline’s applicable cancellation and refund terms.
- Free rescheduling: Rebooking on an alternative date, subject to the airline’s stated conditions and seat availability.
