Homerton Grammar celebrates Grandparents’ Day

Faridabad/ Alive News: In these days of withering values and waning family bond, Homerton Grammar School, Sec 21- A, Faridabad celebrated Grandparents’ Day at the school premises to reiterate the fact that all is not lost. Their kids still cherish the loving memories of their grandparents and they want to become members of a family unit where grandparents are an inseparable part. During this, Arun Mehra, Founder of Janak SewaVridha Ashram graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour along with the senior citizens of the ashram. Members of AGES Major General (Retd.) S.K. Dutt, Mr. S.S. Gussain and Members of Governing Body also graced the occasion. Special guests Bhatia, Suman Chawla, Raj Chawla and Aggarwal honoured the programme with their presence.


Grandparents were welcomed with tilak and petals shower. The programme commenced with the welcome address by the Principal Archana Dogra. The programme followed with the invocation of Goddess Saraswati with Saraswati Vandana. It was followed by brilliant dance performances, poem recitation, songs and a theme musical drama by the students of Homerton. An interesting round of questionnaire revealed remarkable insights into the lives of the grandparents. Grandparents were invited to take part in Antakshari, which was really entertaining. The grandparents also presented speech, songs and poems and shared their feelings which moved the audience. Amidst cheer and excitement result was announced and prizes were distributed. ‘Best Grandparents’ Award’ was bagged by and B.K. Avasthi, also a proud teacher at the school. All the grandparents appreciated the school’s role in education and in imbibing values in children.


The President of AGES Kuldip Singh’s inspiring speech motivated the students to keep their spirits high. He gave the grandparents a special name, “Sadhak” and emphasized on paying unconditional love, affection and respect for elders which can establish the missing link. The President and Founder of Janak Sewa Samiti Arun Mehra expressed his concern over the breaking trend of joint families and feels that the modern education system must focus on the importance of ethics and values. S.S. Gossain, President of Haryana Progressive Schools Association appreciated the students and teachers for presenting a delightful programme as it not only entertained the audience but also educated the younger generation to understand the unconditional love and affection of their grandparents. The Founder Principal Kuldip Singh thanked all the dignitaries for their esteemed presence and his inspiring speech motivated the students to keep their spirits high. Administrator Rajnder Kaur and Managing Director Rajtheep Singh thanked everyone for being a part of this important occasion.
