Faridabad/Alive News: The Department of Communication and Media Technology at J.C. Bose University, YMCA, Faridabad, grandly organized ‘Prakashotsav 2025’ on the occasion of Diwali. The event was held under the departmental club ‘Drisya – Creative Canvas’. This five-day festival became an amazing confluence of light, colors, and creativity, where lantern and toran making competitions, visual storytelling screenings of short films and creative visuals, mini photography, Rangoli competition, and cultural performances offered the experience of a rainbow aura. Mayor Praveen Batra Joshi and renowned writer and singer Saurabh Pandit were present as Chief Guests on the fifth day of ‘Prakashotsav 2025’, which featured a cultural evening. During this grand event, Mayor Praveen Batra praised the artistic talent and socially aware initiatives of the students. He appealed from the stage that this Diwali, everyone should contribute to the Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign by using indigenous products.
In the ceremony held at Vivekananda Auditorium, singer Saurabh Pandit’s performance of his self-composed songs and music made the atmosphere melodious. When Saurabh Pandit sang ‘Mera Lucky Number 16’ and ‘Akhbar News Mein Padh Le Charche Ab Yaara De…’ from the stage, the students cheered, enjoyed, and danced vigorously in the audience along with the singer. Students also performed vigorous thumkas (dance moves) to songs and music rich in Haryanvi culture. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajeev Kumar, while appreciating the program, said that such events provide a platform to refine creativity in students. Academic Dean Prof. Munish Vashisth, Dean DSW Prof. Pradeep Dimri, Dean Dr. Anuradha Sharma, and Proctor Prof. Vasudev Malhotra appreciated the performances and congratulated the organizers for the successful event.
Prof. Pawan Singh, expressing gratitude to all the guests, faculty, and students, said that Prakashotsav-2025 was not just a festival but a platform for media students to showcase their visual storytelling and artistic skills, which will play a significant role in the all-round development of the students. During the event, the Drisya Club T-shirt of the department was unveiled by the guests.
Program Coordinator Assistant Professor Dr. Sonia Hudda informed that during the cultural evening, students showcased their diverse artistic capabilities, ranging from Indian classical dances to folk arts, and from music to theatrical performances. Winners of various competitions were also honored during this time. Under ‘Prakashotsav-2025’, prizes were awarded to Anjali, Nandini, Priyansh in ‘Toran’ competition, Priya, Bhumika, and Priya Mangla in ‘Diya Decoration’, Hardik Mehta, Aditi, Srishti in ‘Photography’, and Chhavi, Harsh, Ketan, Geetika, Drishti, Kumkum, Pooja, Jayanti in ‘Rangoli’ competition held over the five days. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks and the National Anthem.
