Faridabad/Alive News : The students and staff of Faridabad Model School, Sector-31 celebrated 9th ‘International Yoga Day’ in the school premises as a major initiative towards Fit India Movement. Our Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, is the pioneer in starting Yoga Day for the first time on June 21 in 2015. Recognizing the universal appeal of Yoga, the United Nations proclaimed June 21 to be marked as the ‘International Day of Yoga’. Since then, the Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) in India have been celebrating Yoga Day every year.
Trained yoga instructors from Sarvaang Yoga, conducted the session. The innumerable benefits of practicing Yoga was explained to all the participants. Asanas to improve flexibility, strength, and balance; breathing techniques to manage stress and anxiety, and promoting relaxation were demonstrated during the session. The boundless peace of doing the Asanas was amply visible from the faces of the students and staff. The students were encouraged to practice regular yoga to remain fit, improve concentration and maintain the harmony between body and mind.
In his address, FMS Director Principal Mr. Umang Malik expressed his gratitude towards the students, instructors and teachers.
Director Principal Mr. Umang Malik said, “The occasion delivers a message that alignment of physical body and mind is the key to a healthy being. It has been there with us as our ancient culture and yet it holds a profounding relevance in the modern world. As a school it is our prime responsibility to make children aware about the integration of yoga in our day to day lives.”
To conclude the session, the students pledged to make yoga a daily part of their lives so as to increase their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being.
