Faridabad/ Alive News: A great tragedy which was about to happen in front of our eyes never can be forgotten and basically, that an incident in which our innocent toddlers, their horrified voice as ‘Help me Help me’ shock our body even today, but thank god we all saved. Therefore to share her pain in front of media Eicher School Sect-49, Faridabad holds a press conference here today. Addressing to media principal of the school, Mrs. Ritu Kohli told our bus was caught in a water logged low line area at Badarpur on August 31, 2016. The school children were going to KIDZANIA in Noida. To reach on time, we took the SurajKund road. Five of our buses passed through the same under pass safely, but the 6th bus got caught in a pit and got stuck. Since it started raining heavily and one of the main sewage line was open, the gutter water increased the water level incessantly. The water started getting filled in the bus with 70 children and 2 teachers Ms Neerja Sharma &Ms Seema Arora.
Meanwhile, an immediate SOS message was sent to the Police Station, Fire Brigade, Ambulance and crane. The school was also informed and the whole school machinery sprung into action. While all this was happening we requested the passers-by to help us take out the children. A few boys, who were watching this from the surrounding, came forward to help and on requesting they actually agreed and went inside the gushing water. In the meantime, a rickshaw puller was also spotted and he agreed to fetch the children from the bus.
She further said our teacher called the Police at around 9:44 am and within 10 to 12 minutes; the police van arrived with 3 people. The Fire Brigade came from Mehruali side. The message for crane was flashed by one of the persons in Mehraulli and a crane also arrived from Delhi after sometime. In the meantime, a policemen in civil dress, named KishanYadav, came from somewhere, handed over his mobile and car keys to one of our teachers and straight away went to the bus to rescue the children. He saved about 16 children. Another police man on duty, also went to the bus and on reaching there caught hold of the driver’s collar who was helping the teachers take out children from the bus. One of the teachers requested him to carry atleast one child to safety and he said, “Madam I have myself come hanging to this place “and reluctantly carried one child to safety.
In the ending of the programme, the principal said there is no doubt that Police reached the spot in just a few minutes and same for the Fire Brigade but none of them actually took charge of the situation. It was a big support though, but even on requesting, the Fire Brigade people said that if they bring their vehicle in water, they might also get stuck. There was a JCB near the spot, and that driver also refused to take his vehicle there for fear of getting stuck as his engine did not have a cover.
