DAV Public School Hosts CBSE Workshop on Life Skills for Teachers

Faridabad/ Alive News: A Capacity Building Programme on Life Skills was organized by CBSE at D.A.V. Public School, Sector 37, Faridabad. The workshop was held under the guidance of Principal Ms. Deepti Jagota, who is committed to providing the best opportunities for the growth of teachers and students.

The training was conducted by Ms. Kusum Chaudhry and Ms. Neelima Chakraborty, experts in life skills education. They highlighted that teachers act as role models, and by practicing life skills themselves, they can naturally pass them on to students.

The workshop focused on three main areas – Thinking Skills, Social Skills, and Emotional Skills. Teachers were encouraged to use these in classrooms to improve student learning and also enhance their own professional growth. Important skills such as empathy, effective communication, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, and innovative teaching methods were discussed.

The programme began with a lamp-lighting ceremony followed by ice-breaker activities. In the first session, teachers learned the importance of life skills in education. The second session introduced practical strategies, including storytelling, to help students develop values and skills. The third session involved group discussions, enactments, and story-based activities that showed how life skills can be applied in the classroom.

Teachers were trained to create a positive classroom environment, encourage active participation, and promote problem-solving and decision-making among students. Handouts were also provided to make the training more engaging and practical.

The workshop proved to be highly beneficial, helping teachers understand the importance of providing a humanistic education that not only focuses on academics but also helps students become empathetic and emotionally balanced individuals.
