New Delhi/Alive News: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has extended its support to the opposition’s November 1 rally at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi. CJP leader Ashutosh Ranka said party members may attend the rally. The party will also seek feedback from its workers on the possibility of joining the INDIA bloc.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday appealed to student organisations to participate in the November 1 ‘Delhi Chalo’ march. In a video posted on X, he urged students not to fear police action, including lathicharge, and asked them to join the march without panic.
A meeting of INDIA bloc leaders is being held at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence to discuss preparations for the rally. Several alliance leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, have reached the meeting.
The opposition is organising the rally to protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the deletion of voters’ names.
Rahul Gandhi Says March Is Above Party Politics
Rahul Gandhi said the march was not meant for any particular political party but was aimed at protecting the country’s democracy, Constitution and freedom.
He said the march was intended to oppose alleged vote theft and defend democratic values. He appealed to everyone who believes that democracy, the Constitution, the country’s ideas and freedom of expression are under threat to join the march.
