Children with disabilities do not need support, but rather empathy and people who stand by them: Padmashri Deepa Malik

Faridabad/Alive News: The annual function of the Vocational Training Center for Children with Disabilities, run by the Bharat Vikas Parishad Social Welfare Trust, was organized. The country’s renowned para-Olympian, Padmashri and Khel Ratna-Arjuna Awardee Dr. Deepa Malik, was the chief guest and main attraction. The program was presided over by JC Bose University Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajive Kumar.

Besides the special guests, industrialist Sudipto Roy Chowdhury and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s North Zone Contact Head, Shri Krishna Singhal, other respected guests present included President Manoj Tantia, General Secretary Ashok Boyal, Project Coordinator Pawan Agarwal, Head of Media Department Prof. Pawan Singh, Principal of Vocational Training Center for Children with Disabilities Renu Agarwal, V.C. Sinha, Dharamvir Gupta, and Rakesh Gupta.

The annual function, held at the Vivekananda Auditorium of J.C. Bose University in a joint venture between the Bharat Vikas Parishad Social Welfare Trust and the Department of Communication and Media Technology, was dedicated to children with disabilities.

The program commenced with a wonderful and captivating rendition of the Shri Ganesh Vandana by the children with disabilities. Following this, the entire auditorium resonated with applause as the children with disabilities presented the art and culture of Kashmir’s Dal Lake, Himachal, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and South India through beautiful performances showcasing their traditional attire and language.

In her address, Padmashri Awardee Dr. Deepa Malik mentioned her life’s struggle and encouraged the children with disabilities. She praised all the projects run by Bharat Vikas Parishad for children with disabilities. She appealed to other organizations and social workers to similarly help children with disabilities. She emphasized that children with disabilities do not need support, but rather empathy and people who stand by them.

The group presentation by all the children with slogans and posters particularly impressed the audience. The concluding performance, based on the theme ‘We are the ones who develop skill’ (Hum hi kaushal ka vikas karte hain), saw an enthusiastic display by both teachers and children working together.

Shri Krishna Singhal, North Zone Contact Head of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, stated in his address that the entire program of Bharat Vikas Parishad was dedicated to social responsibility, inclusive development, and the diversity of Indian culture. He commended the entire team operating the services for children with disabilities and inspired them to work with greater dedication in the future.

Center Principal Renu Agarwal provided information about the education project running since 2012. Rajkumar Agarwal, who was conducting the stage proceedings, informed that 30-36 children are currently receiving training at their Vocational Training Center for Children with Disabilities. He also mentioned the Dr. Suraj Prakash Arogya Kendra in Sector-8, operated by Bharat Vikas Parishad since 2022, which treats 8000 patients every month. Project Coordinator Pawan Agarwal offered the vote of thanks. The program formally concluded with the national anthem, followed by a communal meal for everyone.
