New Delhi/Alive News: Amul has increased the prices of its ghee and butter products by ₹3 to ₹50, adding to household expenses. The price of a 1 kg carton of ghee has been raised from ₹630 to ₹680, while a 100-gram butter pack will now cost ₹66, up from ₹63.
The price of a 500-gram pure ghee pouch has increased from ₹325 to ₹345. Similarly, the price of a 500-gram butter pack has gone up from ₹310 to ₹325.
The increase comes amid a sharp rise in demand for branded ghee following action against counterfeit products in Gujarat and Rajasthan. According to a cooperative leader associated with Amul, nearly 2 lakh kg of fake ghee has been seized in the two states over the past six months. The action has encouraged consumers to prefer established brands.
The price revision comes after Amul reduced the prices of around 700 dairy products following the GST rate cut in September 2025. At the time, GST on dairy products was reduced from 12% to 5%, providing relief to consumers.
Meanwhile, supply shortages of Amul ghee have been reported in parts of Gujarat, particularly Ahmedabad and Vadodara. Some retailers have reported falling stocks amid increased demand. A D-Mart outlet in Ahmedabad’s Satellite area reportedly ran out of Amul ghee and butter.
The cooperative leader said nearly 45% of annual ghee consumption takes place during the festive season. The seasonal surge in demand has further increased pressure on supplies.
