Centre for Smart Solar Energy launched at Manav Rachna University

Faridabad:  As an Eco-smart Campus, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions have been making concentrated efforts in working towards the green cause for a more sustainable and pollution-free environment.

To carry out R&D work in the area of Solar Energy, related instrumentation and control and optimization of energy systems besides providing training to Students/ Faculty/Professionals in the area of Energy Systems; Manav Rachna University (a State University under Section 2F of the UGC Act 1946) and Su-Kam Power Systems jointly launched a Centre for Smart Solar Energy at the MRU campus today.

The Centre was inaugurated by Smt. Satya Bhalla, Chief Patron, MREI.  Mr Kunwer Sachdev, Managing Director, Su-Kam Power Systems Ltd; Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President, MREI; Dr. Amit Bhalla, VP- MREI; Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, VC-MRU and Dr. N C Wadhwa, VC-MRIU among other senior dignitaries were present on this momentous occasion.

Su-Kam is providing ‘in field’ exposure to both faculty members and students at the MRU campus on the latest developments in the field of solar energy and its applications, especially its commercial applications in the area of energy generation, storage and deployment.  Under the mentorship of Mr. Praveen Kumar Jain, AVP, Knowledge Centre, SuKam; eight solar panels of 80 watts each have been put up at the Centre collectively generating 640 Volts. Four panels have been connected in a series of 48 volts. With the help of these four panels, 4 LED lights, 2 brushless fans based on AC technology are being run at the Centre. Apart from this, DC lights and DC fans are being run on individual solar panels. All technologies at the Solar Centre have been developed by a team of four faculty members and six students from MRU including the wiring and connections.

While appreciating the team and thanking SuKam for its support, Dr. Prashant Bhalla said: “The Centre shall provide a forum for convergence of R&D through conferences, workshops and lectures at National and International levels. With Su-Kam being a leading energy solution provider in the country and Manav Rachna University being a fast upcoming University engaged in academics and R&D, this venture is a quintessential industry-academia partnership which is a trendsetter”.

Mr. Kunwer Sachdev said: “I congratulate the students and faculty members who have contributed for establishing this Centre. Your efforts exhibit a culture of excellence in professional education and research. At Su-Kam we believe, that future can only be nurtured by wisdom of those who have achieved success andlaid a glorious path for others to follow. And this Centre is a step in that direction”.
