‘Congress wants to protect Bangladeshi infiltrators by opposing SIR’: Amit Shah.

National/Alive News: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday accused the Congress of opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to protect Bangladeshi infiltrators, whom he described as the party’s vote bank. He was speaking at the BJP’s ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ rally in Hyderabad, organised in response to Opposition protests against SIR.

Shah rejected Rahul Gandhi’s claim that 13 crore voters had been deleted from electoral rolls. He said 6.25 crore people had shifted to other places and nearly 3 crore had died. Questioning the Opposition’s allegations, he asked whether people who had relocated should be allowed to vote from two places. He accused the Congress of trying to win elections through fake votes.

Shah said the Congress and its allies were opposing SIR because they wanted to protect infiltrators. He added that BJP workers firmly supported the revision exercise, which the party says is aimed at correcting electoral rolls.

The Hyderabad march will pass through Abids and conclude at Mozzamjahi Market. Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar and Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao will also participate. Similar marches are being planned in Patna and Kolkata.

On Sunday, the BJP organised ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ marches in several cities, including Delhi, against the INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan. Meanwhile, 13 leaders from 12 Opposition parties have approached the Supreme Court challenging the SIR exercise. Rahul Gandhi and other leaders had marched to the court on October 12.
