Rohit Sharma to Play in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2026-27; Will Virat Kohli Also Join?

Sports/Alive News: Indian cricket star Rohit Sharma has made himself available to play for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2026-27, which begins in December. He has reportedly informed the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) about his decision. With the ODI World Cup scheduled for next year, the tournament will provide him with valuable match practice.

According to a report in The Indian Express, Rohit will join the Mumbai team after India’s three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, scheduled from December 13 to 19.

An MCA official said Rohit had confirmed his availability but would inform the association later about the number of matches he could play.

Rohit Played in Last Season’s Tournament Too

Rohit also represented Mumbai in two matches during last season’s Vijay Hazare Trophy. He scored 155 runs off 94 balls against Sikkim but was dismissed for a first-ball duck against Uttarakhand.

He has played 18 matches for Mumbai in the tournament so far.

Vijay Hazare Trophy Schedule

The league stage will be held from December 14 to 29, while knockout matches are scheduled from January 2 to 8. League matches will take place in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Ranchi and Rajkot. Visakhapatnam will host the knockout matches.

Rohit’s participation will help him prepare for upcoming international assignments, including India’s ODI series against Zimbabwe in January.

Will Virat Kohli Also Play?

After Rohit’s decision, attention has turned towards Virat Kohli. Fans are waiting to see whether he will also represent Delhi in the tournament.

However, there is no official confirmation about Kohli’s participation yet. Last season, he played two matches for Delhi, scoring 208 runs, including a century and a half-century.

DDCA president Rohan Jaitley had earlier expressed optimism about Kohli returning to domestic cricket. His participation this season remains uncertain.
