Faridabad/ Alive News: Homerton Grammar School, Sector –21 A, Faridabad commemorated ‘UNESCO WORLD PRESS FREEDOM DAY’ celebrated at the city hotel on 3rd May, 2017. The theme was to enlighten the students with the fundamental principles of press freedom and their independence. Also this enabled the students to critically think and have an informed view point on any subject. The ceremony was graced by the presence of senior journalists of the city among other dignitaries. The Founder Principal of the school Mr. Kuldip Singh warmly welcomed the dignitaries and felicitated them with mementos. The esteemed guests from the press enlightened the audience with their experiences and gave an insight into the life of a journalist and that every reporter has his own perspective of an event and is motivated to give authentic and genuine information to the people.
The students delivered speeches on topics highlighting various aspects of the 21st Century media. This was followed by an interactive session between media persons and students wherein a lot of queries were duly answered by the guests. Roma, a student of class 12th wished to be enlightened with what must be done to bring media and information into the education system at school level. Ankit of class 12th wanted to know whether it was true that ‘Freedom of Speech’ is a right for the citizens but a power to the media and whether the media needed more freedom than they currently enjoy. The students were full of enthusiasm and zeal which they clearly demonstrated through the posters made by them.
The Principal of Homerton Grammar School, Archana Dogra extended a vote of thanks to the dignitaries and the programme ended on a positive note as the students were deeply satiated by the enriching experience they had with the media moguls.
