World Physiotherapy day observed at Manav Rachna

Faridabad/ Alive News: Department of Physiotherapy, Faculty of Applied Science, Manav Rachna International University observed World Physiotherapy Day today on the theme ‘Physical Activity for Life’ to inspire young and aspiring physiotherapists. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Prof.(Dr.) Upendra Kaul, Padma Shri, a renowned cardiologist, pioneer of interventional cardiology in India and Dean Academics & Dean Research, Batra Medical Hospital & Research Centre. The event was attended by Dr. N.C. Wadhwa, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, MRIU, Dr. M K Soni, PVC, MRIU, Dr. Dhurjati Majumdar, Director, FAS and Dr. Sarita Sachdeva among others.

Addressing a the gathering of eager students, Dr Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor said, “Physiotherapy is needed in every sphere of life and across all age groups. The efficacy of physiotherapy is such that it has no side effects.” Dr. Majumdar stressed on the fact that owing to the present day lifestyle, the musculoskeletal disorders have become more of an epidemic in the modern era and that the role of a physiotherapist has become even more crucial. The highlights of the event were the inspiring speeches by the glorious alumni who shared their experiences with the students and the luminaries and thanked MRIU for who they are. Both of them stressed the students to remain focused and be confident of their skills and knowledge which can only be improved through clinical reasoning and application.

The event also included talks about the profession from a student’s perspective about their expectations and aspirations from the profession. The students of BPT 7th semester were the speakers who concluded that a “physiotherapist makes a difference”. The event was suitable interspersed with cultural events related to spreading of physiotherapy awareness among the masses including inspiring skits, nukkadnatak, singing & dance performances. A quiz competition was also organized to keep the students learning processes going.
