Faridabad/Alive News: A workshop on ‘Voice Over’ was organized by the Department of Communication and Media Technology, J.C. Bose University, as part of the winter internship program. During the session, expert Bhupendra taught students the nuances of being a voice expert as well as the intricacies of PR and Advertising. Forty students from BAJMC and Visual Communication are currently participating in the winter internship organized by the department’s Sanchar Club and Drishya Club.
In the workshop, students learned the essential elements of voice, specifically the ‘Four 4’ — Pitch, Pause, Pace, and Base. Highlighting the importance of these elements, the students learned their various nuances and practiced them.
On Wednesday, during the internship ongoing at the Media Department Studio, Head of Department Prof. Pawan Singh welcomed PR and Advertising expert Bhupendra by presenting him with a sapling. In his address, Prof. Pawan Singh stated that through this workshop, students would become familiar with the genre of voice-over and learn the fine details of PR and advertising alongside voice expertise. He emphasized that media students can carve out a distinct identity for themselves solely on the strength of an idea.
Establishing an effortless rapport with the students, PR and Advertising expert Bhupendra explained the characteristics of ‘voice’. He stated that ‘Voice Over’ is an art where the ‘4 Ps’ (Pitch, Pause, Pace, Base) hold special significance. Being proficient in these four disciplines is the hallmark of a good voice-over artist.
Highlighting the importance of both content and visuals in PR and advertising, he explained that writing and pronunciation should be characterized by clarity, ease, simplicity, conversational tone, and an emotional connection with the common public. He also cautioned students to be prepared for the challenging changes occurring in the advertising sector. He defined good, bad, average, and most popular advertisements through examples.
He noted that when working on new ideas for advertisements, one must keep the Hook Line, Trending Topics, and Target Audience in mind. He advised students to analyze advertisements that did not succeed and to watch ads carefully. He suggested they first record advertisements in their own voice and then analyze them.
At the conclusion of the event, Workshop Coordinator Ajay proposed a vote of thanks. On this occasion, Assistant Professor Dr. Sonia Hooda, Production Assistant Pankaj Saini, and Vishal were prominently present.
