Visitors to miss world famous the Taj Mahal in Surajkund Mela

Faridabad/ Alive News: Although the theme state for this year’s Surajkund International Craft Fair beginning from February 2 is Uttar Pradesh, visitors are likely to miss the replica of the world-famous Taj Mahal. “We have not been asked to install the replica of the Taj Mahal so far. All other preparations for the fair are about to be completed,” said an employee, who is overseeing the artwork at the venue. He added that several art pieces and replicas, including ghats of Banaras (Varanasi), had been installed.
However, MD, Haryana Tourism, Sameer Pal avoided any query in this regard and said the replicas of Banaras (Varanasi) ghats would be one of the main attractions at the fair. He said while UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath would the chief guest during the inauguration ceremony on February 2, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar would preside over the function. This is the first time that the mela would start and culminate on the weekend.
“We were expecting the Taj Mahal’s replica to be the main attraction at the fair,” said AK Gaur, a regular visitor to the fair.
Pooja Chaudhary, a local resident, said,” The theme state usually installs the replicas of its famous spots. The Taj Mahal has a unique identity in the world and is visited by a number of tourists everyday. It is shocking that it will be missing when UP is the theme state this year,” she added.
