Faridabad/Alive News: With a view to provide an opportunity to the students to acquire a better singing voice, the YMCA University of Science and Technology, Faridabad organised an expert lecture on ‘Voice Culture’ by a well known vocalist and internationally reputed Voice Trainer, Prof. T. Unnikrishnan.
Senior Professor and Dean of Faculty of Music, Indira Kala Sangita Vishvavidyalaya, Chattisgarh, Prof. T. Unnikrishnan, who has done intensive study and research on Voice Culture and developed many techniques of voice modulation for all styles of singing, presented an interesting lecture demonstration on ‘Voice Culture’.
Dr. Parveen Verma from SMS Khalsa College, Barara (Ambala) was guest of honour on this occasion and also delivered motivational lecture and gave tips to be successful in every sphere of life.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dinesh Kumar welcomed Prof. Unnikrishnan to the University and described him as multifaceted personality – a Performer, Researcher, Academician and Administrator. Prof. Dinesh said that ‘it is a big opportunity to the students to interact and learn valuable tips from Prof. Unnikrishnan on singing.’
In his expert lecture, Prof. Unnikrishnan detailed about some common problems faced by musicians such as strain in the voice, breathlessness, dryness and an uneasy sensation leading to frequent clearing of throat, he said that the problem occurs in many cases because of incorrect ways of breathing, lack of practice and lack of knowledge about the importance of maintaining the vocal chords. He also taught the students about the voice culture techniques and exercises to improve the voice quality. He also correlated human voice to science and nature.
