Faridabad/ Alive News: To celebrate the National Nutritional Week 2017, Sarvodaya Hospital, Faridabad today organized the Health Talk in line with the theme “Optimal Infant & Young Child Feeding Practices: Better Child Health”. Dr Madhurima Gupta, Consultant PHC, headed the talk show with her team. Over 50 people attended the session.
The event also had different stalls showcasing healthy foods. The talk described about the importance of the healthy food in our daily life and how to identify and optimize the daily foods into healthy one. The event also helped the participants to experience different ways to convert the daily foods into healthy foods. The team of doctors who helped the participants to learn were Meena Kumari Dogra, Clinical Nutritionist & Ritu Singh, Diabetic Educator, Ruchi Choudhary & Rekha Rajput.
Dr Madhurima Gupta said, “Rural India faces 46 infant death in every 1000 live birth every year[i]. To overcome such crisis we need to focus more on the health of the mothers to be and the child. Eating healthy on regular intervals and choosing the right type of food is very important in today’s lifestyle. We should avoid the indulgence towards the easily available junk and fast foods.”
The National Nutrition Week is an annual nutrition event introduced by Food and Nutrition Board, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. It is observed all over the country from 1 to 7 September every year. The main objective to celebrate nutrition week is to raise awareness on the importance of nutrition for health which has an impact on development, productivity, economic growth and ultimately National development. This year the team of this initiative was “Optimal Infant & Young Child Feeding Practices: Better Child Health”.
