Faridabad/Alive News: President of India, Droupadi Murmu, today highlighted the pivotal role of educational institutions like J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology in addressing the challenges and leveraging the opportunities presented by the fourth industrial revolution.
She was addressing the 5th convocation of J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA in Faridabad, Haryana. The convocation was presided over by Governor of Haryana and Chancellor of the University, Shri Bandaru Dattatraya, and Vice Chancellor Prof. Sushil Kumar Tomar was also present. The President conferred 13 PhD degrees and awarded 2 medals and certificates to the students in the presence of Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatreya.
A total of 1536 students and researchers who completed their degrees in the year 2023 were conferred degrees, including 998 graduates, 525 postgraduates, and 13 PhDs. Among the recipients, there were 874 boys and 662 girls. Two meritorious girl students were awarded gold medals: Ishita Juneja received the Governor-Chancellor Gold Medal worth Rs 75,000 as the overall B.Tech topper, and Kajal Sharma received the Chief Minister Gold Medal worth Rs 65,000 as the overall B.Tech Girl topper.
President Smt. Murmu congratulated the students on their convocation and noted the significant representation of women, with 43 percent of the degree recipients being girls. She expressed her desire to see this ratio improve.
The President praised the University’s efforts to promote research, including the introduction of the J.C. Bose Young Scientist Award and provisions for seed money for research. She also commended the University’s initiatives such as MoUs with industrial and academic institutions and the establishment of Centres of Excellence in collaboration with multinational companies.
he President appreciated the University’s initiative to implement the NEP and provide education aligned with its goals. She also acknowledged the contribution of the Institution to making youth skilled and self-reliant for over five decades and highlighted the impressive list of alumni who are excelling in various fields and supporting students financially and through mentorship.
Murmu suggested that educational institutions should take steps to strengthen and make the role of the alumni association more effective. She described the great scientist Jagdish Chandra Bose as a pioneer of modern science and a source of inspiration for students to bring about positive change through technology.
The ceremony concluded with the singing of the national anthem. On this occasion, Chief Secretary of Haryana Shri T.V.S.N. Prasad, Director General of Police Shri Shatrujeet Kapoor, Commissioner of Police Shri C.P. Narwal, Faridabad Deputy Commissioner Shri Vikram Singh, members of various University bodies, members of the Alumni Association, and officers of the District Administration were also present.
