National Book Trust, India – Library on Wheels’ visit at FMS

Faridabad/Alive News: National Book Trust, India – Library on Wheels’ visit at FMS Faridabad Model School, Sector-31 played host to ‘Library on Wheels’ in association with National Book Trust, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India and Haryana Police. The initiative was under the umbrella of Police Ki Pathshala as part of the Community Policing Programme, Haryana Police.

Present at the occasion were Inspector Surender Kumar- Incharge Senior Citizen Cell, ASI Surender Singh- Coordinator Community Policing, Faridabad, Officials of National Book Trust, FMS Academic Director Shashi Bala, school coordinators, teachers and students.‘Pustak Parikrama’ is an innovative scheme of exhibition of books introduced by NBT, India, through mobile vans across the country.

The project aims at helping the young minds from all sections of the society to access books, in turn allowing them to read, imagine and grow.To start with, Insp. Surender Kumar and ASI Surender Singh encouraged the students to shift their focus from gadgets to books, as they open up windows to the world and inspire us to explore and achieve our goals.

The NBT officials gave an inside tour of the mobile library to the students, which was stocked with reading material of all genres – Junior Fiction, Non- Fiction, Comics, Short Stories, Poems, Drama, etc.FMS Academic Director Mrs. Shashi Bala expressed her gratitude towards the officials and appreciated the initiative of Haryana Police. She also made the students understand that books are a storehouse of energy that fuels imagination and motivated them to cultivate the habit and love for reading.

The students waited anxiously for this and were thrilled to witness the mobile library in person. The visit was a great success and the ambience inside the bus brought life to the static libraries and book shelves.
