Mega Plantation Drive to be launched under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative

Faridabad/Alive News:  In response to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s call, a significant plantation drive is set to commence in Faridabad district, furthering the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign initiative. This drive will involve the Municipal Corporation, J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, Haryana Urban Development Authority (HSVP), Forest Department, various Resident Welfare Associations, Industrial Associations, and NGOs, all under the guidance of the Municipal Corporation Faridabad.

A meeting was convened today at J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, to delineate the plantation drive under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative. Haryana Education Minister Smt. Seema Trikha, Vice Chancellor of J.C. Bose University Prof. Sushil Kumar Tomar, Additional Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Shri Gaurav Antil, CMD of Victoria Group of Industries Shri SS Banga, and other esteemed guests were in attendance. Representatives from various supporting departments, associations, and organizations, in collaboration with social worker Shri Ganga Shankar Mishra, deliberated on strategies to ensure the success of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, emphasizing the need for collective participation.

Education Minister Smt. Seema Trikha highlighted that the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, initiated by Prime Minister Shri Modi, aims to foster a sense of love and respect for nature, encouraging everyone to be vigilant in protecting the natural environment. She said that eco-clubs at all educational levels—schools, colleges, and universities—across the state would be encouraged to support the campaign’s message. She also elaborated the efforts made by present government to revive Badkhal Lake in Faridabad.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Sushil Kumar Tomar spoke about the dire consequences of deforestation and pollution resulting from urbanization and industrialization. He stressed the global challenges of warming and environmental issues, urging immediate action in the form of tree planting. He also shared details about the Hariyali Parv campaign initiated by the university two years ago, which promotes environmental awareness alongside plantation efforts.

Additional Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Shri Gaurav Antil outlined the objective of the plantation campaign, which is to establish a mini forest in Faridabad. It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi initiated the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign by planting a Peepal tree in New Delhi on June 5, 2024, World Environment Day. On this occasion, he urged people worldwide to plant a tree as a symbol of love, respect, and honor for their mother and to pledge to protect Mother Earth. On this occasion, Education Minister Smt. Seema Trikha also participated in plantation drive in the university campus.
