Kill monkey, get Rs 500 more

Shimla/ Alive News: To contain the growing simian menace, the state government has enhanced the incentive for killing monkeys. This was stated by Forest Minister Thakur Singh Bharmouri.
He added that after declaration of monkeys as vermin in a few tehsils, the state government has approved special incentives to people for catching and killing monkeys.
Bharmouri said the amount had been enhanced for killing monkeys outside the forest area from Rs 300 to Rs 500 per monkey. Moreover, the amount for sterilisation of a monkey had also been increased from Rs 500 to Rs 700.
The government will provide Rs 1,000 per monkey if any individual manages to catch 80 per cent of monkeys in one particular herd in a particular area. It’s because, as studies have revealed, monkeys stay in the herds and are very possessive about the group to which they belong.
