Faridabad/Alive News: J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad organized a colorful program to celebrate International Women’s Day 2026. The event was organized by the Women Cell under the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) to recognize the contribution of women in society and to promote awareness about gender equality and women empowerment.
Although International Women’s Day is celebrated worldwide on March 8, the university organized the event on March 12 so that more students, faculty members, staff and guests could participate without disturbing academic activities.
The program started with welcoming the guests in the Vice-Chancellor’s office, followed by garlanding the bust of Sir J.C. Bose and lighting the ceremonial lamp.
The event was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajive Kumar. The Chief Guest was Prof. Deepti Dharmani, Vice-Chancellor of Chaudhary Bansi Lal University, Bhiwani, while Dr. Savita Bhagat, former Principal of D.A.V. Centenary College, Faridabad, attended as the Guest of Honour.
While addressing the gathering, Prof. Rajive Kumar highlighted the theme of the event — “Rights, Justice, Action for All Women and Girls.” He said that women faculty members are the real strength of the university and appreciated their dedication and hard work. He also talked about the university’s initiatives to support women, such as encouraging female students to join technical courses, providing research opportunities, academic leaves and other welfare benefits. He also mentioned that many girl students of the university are receiving Bharti Foundation scholarships, which help them continue their higher education without financial problems.
Dr. Savita Bhagat shared her experiences and spoke about the important role of women in nation-building. She pointed out that women often manage both home and office responsibilities, which affects their working hours and productivity. She said that society’s mindset needs to change to achieve true equality for working women.
Chief Guest Prof. Deepti Dharmani also spoke about gender equality. She gave examples from ancient Indian texts to show that men and women have always been considered equal in Indian culture. She said that competition between men and women should be healthy and positive and encouraged young women to work hard and achieve success in science and technology.
The event also included cultural performances by different university clubs, which showcased the talent and creativity of the students.
The program ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Preeti Sethi. The event was organized and coordinated by Prof. Sandhya Dixit, Chairperson of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), along with her team. After the program, the guests also visited the university’s state-of-the-art studio.
