Indian Among Two Killed in Attack on Saudi Arabia’s Dammam Airport

National/Alive News: An Indian national and a Saudi citizen were killed in an attack on Saudi Arabia’s Dammam airport on Wednesday night, while eight others were injured, the country’s General Authority of Civil Aviation said on Thursday.

The authority revised the earlier death toll in a statement and said an assessment of the damage caused to the airport was under way. The incident comes amid an escalation in attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels on Saudi Arabia’s oil facilities and civilian infrastructure.

According to an AFP tally based on official figures, 22 people have been killed in attacks on Saudi airports this month. The intensifying violence has also disrupted aviation operations and heightened concerns over the security of key infrastructure.

The conflict has raised further concerns over oil supplies, with the Houthis announcing a maritime blockade in the Red Sea that threatens shipments from Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest crude oil exporter.

The latest attacks follow the collapse in July of a years-long truce in Yemen’s civil war. The Iran-backed Houthis are fighting Yemen’s internationally recognised government, which is supported by a Saudi-led coalition.

The Houthis have since targeted Saudi ships, territory and oil facilities. In September, they launched a major offensive and seized territory previously held by government forces along Yemen’s Red Sea coast.

Saudi Arabia has responded with repeated airstrikes on areas under Houthi control, which cover large parts of Yemen. The continuing escalation has increased regional security concerns and threatens to disrupt vital maritime trade routes.
