“Hariyali Parv” Inaugurates at JC Bose University with “Ek Paudha, Ek Sankalp”

Faridabad/Alive News : In response to the urgent need for environmental conservation and climate change mitigation, J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, today initiated Plantation Drive-2023 “Hariyali Parv” with “Ek Paudha Ek Sankalp”. “Hariyali Parv” is a plantation campaign conducted by the Vasundhara Eco-club of the University in collaboration with the Dean Student Welfare office and Department of Environmental Sciences.

The campaign was inaugurated by Chief Guest Mr. S.S. Banga, CMD Victoria Industries Pvt. Ltd, presided over by Vice-Chancellor, J.C Bose University, Prof. S.K. Tomar by planting the saplings of Neem plants in University campus. Dean Institutions Prof. Sandeep Grover, DSW Prof. Munish Vashishath, Chairperson/Incharge, Department of Environmental Sciences and Vasundhara Eco-club Dr. Renuka Gupta and NSS Coordinator Sh. Atma Ram and other organizing committee members were present at the inauguration ceremony.

Speaking on this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor expressed concern over the dire consequences of deforestation and pollution due to urbanization and industrialization. He said the new generation should cultivate eco-friendly lifestyle as a culture. He emphasized that the world is facing the problems of global warming and environmental-related issues, to recover from such problems, planting trees become inevitable aspect today. The campaign Hariyali Parv was initiated last year and planting saplings was not the only motive of this campaign but is a long-term investment for mother earth. That’s why plant caring days were also organized periodically.

Sh. S. S Banga, CMD, Victora Industries Pvt Ltd appreciated the plantation drive of the University. He showed concern about why we need plantation drives; this activity should come up naturally among humankind. He also added that through various such initiatives, we strive to promote harmonious coexistence between humans and nature while raising awareness about the importance of ecological preservation. Sh. S.S. Banga has done commendable work in the area of organizing plantation drives and social activities like blood donation camp, etc.

Earlier, Dr. Renuka Gupta, Head, Department of Environmental Sciences and Eco-Club, briefed that the plantation drive includes planting about 500 plant saplings in University Campus and adopted villages. She emphasized that plantation is the easiest method by which every person can contribute in environment conservation and climate change mitigation. Also, she announced that in this phase, every planted sapling will be adopted by the students and faculty members by taking Sankalp of nurturing and caring for young plants.

Today’s planted saplings were adopted by Dr. Renuka Gupta herself to ensure the survival and growth of newly planted trees until they become established and self-sufficient. Vote of Thanks was proposed by Prof Munish Vashishth. The program was attended by the students of Eco-club and NSS cell of the university with a great enthusiasm.
